Thank you! What a great idea to have these letters (& tapes) to accompany your books. I discovered you and read all the books in this series within a few days. I just couldn’t put them down. I connected with these people and their lives. Then I had to wait for the release of this new book. Thankfully, you gave me the letters to get me back in Magdalena before the new release. Can’t wait to start reading it later today!
Hi Nancy: I do so love hearing when readers connect with the residents of Magdalena. That’s a wonderful compliment – thank you very much! I’m guessing you may have finished A Family Affair: The Secret by now and I hope you enjoyed it. Lily’s letter will be available soon and you won’t want to miss that one. I have a few other things in the works to bring readers closer to Magdalena…still planning them out, but hope to share soon. I’m working on Bree’s story next – that poor women deserves a chance at happiness after what happened…but it’s not… Read more »

Love, love this series and more people need to read Charlie’s letter, so true.
I’m really enjoying reading these letters. I pre-ordered the latest book in this series and it has now downloaded to my kindle I can’t wait to get started.
Keep them coming Mary they are wonderful stories and keep me enthralled it’s like catching up with old friends you haven’t seen for some time.
Hi Gwen: Old friends indeed…they live in my brain and they all want their story told! I haven’t forgotten about the private investigator, Lester Conroy…he’ll head to Magdalena at some point and probably wish he hadn’t! Tess and Cash want a baby so badly…but at what cost? Will Lucy Benito give Jeremy Ross Dean a chance? And what about Ramona Casherdon and Anthony Benito? Will they get married? I wonder about the real story behind Mimi Pendergrass’s estrangement with her daughter…will we find out? That notebook is still in Pop’s hands…can he keep it safe? What about Gina and Ben?… Read more »

Absolutely love your writing style! So detailed. I get pulled into another world when I open your books. The letters are a nice bonus. Now to turn my nook on so my pre-ordered book will download & I can get to reading.
Was A Family Affair: The Secret waiting for you when you opened your Nook?! I hope you’re enjoying it – I’d love to hear what you think about Natalie…and Roman Ventori…and Angie Sorrento… Bree was quiet in this last book, but she’s going to be on a roll in this next one:)
Thanks for taking the time to write and for the very kind words.
Best,
Mary

I have been hooked since Book 1. Want to move to Magdalena. Love every one of your cast of characters, flaws and all. Hate to think about end of the series. Loving listening to the letters.
I don’t like to think about the ending either – there are so many things that still have to happen…I’ve got some great ideas that will let readers get even more involved with the people of Magdalena…hope to share soon!
Thanks for your kind words and look for Lily’s letter soon.
Best,
Mary

As always with your books, I can’t hardly wait for the next one. this series grabbed me from the very first. I’ve even got my husband to read them. He also will say, “Got any more?”
Family reading? This is indeed the ultimate compliment! Thank you! I have many readers contact me and let me know they’re sharing with their sisters, children, mothers…and now, a husband. I love it!! I’ve got some very cool things planned for this year… And you won’t want to miss the next 3 letters…oh boy…As I wrote them, I kept thinking he was going to die in a few days and all of his plans and dreams would never be realized…very sad.
Thanks again for your loyal readership and for introducing your husband to Magdalena!

Listening to Charles letters was so touching. Reading this series seems as though I am catching up with old friends. I can picture each member of the families and feel happy and sad with the ups and downs they face as they plod along. Excellent writing. Can’t wait for each book to unfold.
Thank you!! I really do care about all of these people – even Natalie Servetti, who I will attempt to redeem in AFA: The Wish. In Magdalena, there’s joy, hope, sorrow, pain, forgiveness, betrayal, redemption…the town helps those in need, gets them through their grief to a new normal, where they aren’t alone, and where they know people care. I’m working on a few ideas that will increase the “sense” of Magdalena and make readers feel as though they truly belong to this community.
Again, thank you for your kind words.
Best,
Mary

Great letter to Christine it shows a Father’s love and need to see her achieve the happiness she deserves
Thank you, and yes, it certainly does. So much of Charles’s hesitancy to make a choice between families was his fear of hurting Christine and leaving her disillusioned. Perhaps his greatest gift to her came through his death – that made her seek out the truth in Magdalena where she discovered his other family, and in the end, she found her own truth – a rich, authentic life surrounded by people who could love and accept her exactly as she was.
Look for Harry’s letter next!
